Savannah-Mr. Jackson, 78, formerly of Charlotte, NC, died in Savannah, GA on April 19, 2008.
Lawson was born October 24, 1929 in Vance County, NC to the late Lonnie and Ella Duncan Jackson. He was preceded in death by brothers, Martin and Sammy and sister, Margaret. He is survived by daughter, Terri Wease Matt of Savannah, GA; son, Alan Jackson, Jr., M.D. of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Jennifer and Jamie Lindley of Savannah, GA; brother, Malcolm Jackson Amelia of Charlotte, NC and 9 nephews and 4 nieces.
Lawson was a graduate of Henderson High School and East Carolina College University. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne. Prior to his retirement he was a salesman, traveling most of the southeastern states.
There will be a memorial service 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at the family home.
